Intern Architect


Position Type: Full Time / Part Time

Location: Atlanta



Job Responsibilities:


  • Perform architectural assignments, compile data, perform design computations, prepare architectural drawings, and inspect architectural features of projects in construction

  • Understand and execute “red marked” revisions

  • Develop details from sketches generated by Project Architects

  • Draft construction documents based on previously developed information

  • Demonstrate awareness of coordination with specifications

  • Demonstrate awareness of the implications of building codes and other regulatory requirements

  • Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design

  • Consistently strive to improve the technical quality of work produced by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry

  • Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and ensure integrated design approaches and solutions

  • Develop hand drawing, rendering, and model building skills.

  • Prepare presentation drawings.

  • Produce design and construction documents, as directed.

  • Meet task and project deadlines.

  • Work to achieve Client's goals.

  • Communicate an understanding of task assignments and expectations.

  • Develop design skills.

  • Explore alternate design approaches as directed by Project Architect/Design Architect.

  • Inform Project Team Leaders of potential project opportunities.

  • Develop visual and presentation skills.

  • Undertake job-related research, as directed.

  • Gain an understanding of building systems, codes, and construction methods.

  • Develop computer software skills (Revit, CADD, Photoshop, Sketch-up, word, excel, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Altman + Barrett projects and resources.

  • Promote a collaborative team atmosphere.​



Position Requirements:


  • 0 to 2 years professional architectural experience.

  • Student or graduate of an accredited architectural program for Bachelor's level degree.

  • Working knowledge of Revit

  • 1-year graphics and/or design experience or comparable knowledge gained in an academic environment

  • At least one year of related experience

  • Ability to use BIM and other computer generated design software

  • Experience with Revit preferred

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work successfully in projects teams

  • Ability to multitask
