Interior Designer

with Graphic Design Specialty

Currently, we are seeking a full-time Interior Designer with a Graphic Design Specialty. Our ideal candidate should have strong marketing skills, attention to detail, forward-thinking, enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment and be a good overall addition to our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Designers, Principals and other senior level staff in design, production and detailing of commercial interior projects including educational facilities, corporate office, medical, retail and industrial

  • Work with Project Designers, Principals and other senior level staff in the selection and specification of commercial finish materials

  • Work with Project Designers, Principals, and other senior level staff in Construction Administration procedures

  • Work with Project Designers, Principals and other senior level staff in field observation/measurement and AutoCAD input

  • Produce marketing and presentation materials for current and potential clients. This includes but is not limited to RFP documents, design competition presentations, feasibility books, and marketing handouts.

  • May creates unique effective designs for wayfinding, environmental and graphic design programs that meet the needs of the project.

  • Understand target audiences’ cognitive, cultural, physical and social environment to lead in the planning and executing of design.

  • Leads mock-up design reviews for errors before the final production or client presentation.

  • Ability to multi-task numerous projects in differing fields of design

  • Produces written documentation related to project such as construction drawings and specifications.

  • May be responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provide support as necessary.

  • Prepares proposals and participates in interviews.

  • Accuracy in all phases of work in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in architecture / interior design / or related field

  • Must be professional Interior Designer and have passed the NCIDQ exam or be a registered Architect with current license required.

  • Previous design experience in educational facilities encouraged. This may include both K-12 and Higher Education.

  • Advanced knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.

  • Advanced knowledge of furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art, signage, color and materials to carry out design intent.

  • Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets.  Demonstrated ability to execute projects profitably.

  • Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with external clients and internal staff.

  • Significant talent / experience in design, design development and project leadership for large-scale interior design projects.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is required.

  • Previous graphic design and design presentation experience required. Knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition and knowledge of corporate branding, print design, and multimedia applications encouraged.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, Excel and MS Word

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5)  years’ experience with commercial interior projects
